The Legend of Spark

Speraachus IV: A class 'H' planet in the outer reaches of space, known throughout the charted universe as the one of the richest sources of energy-yielding compounds found yet. The elements found on this harsh world could power the largest of empires until the end of days. This planet is spoken of in reverent tones; it is regarded as near-legend by many, as visitors to its surface are few, and those who return are even less. But mostly, it is known by the nickname given it by its discoverers:

SPARK.

Since records began, those civilizations able to seek it out have travelled far to claim it as their own. Arriving, they found themselves greeted by many other like-minded spacefaring worlds hell-bent on gaining Spark's riches, and just as equally determined to share them with no other. They have met in the virtual consulates, and in the diplomatic chambers, trying by night and day to ratify treaties that will guarantee a share of riches for all. But most of all, they have met on the battlefield, to gain for themselves a treasure with which to build their massive empires...

...and Spark hosts a battlefield like none before...

When first charted, Spark was discovered to have in orbit around it a number of monolithic structures that almost magically impeded the forward progress of the covetous hordes. Early archaelogical surveys that were conducted determined them to be ancient guardians of Spark, set in place there by some long-vanished but technologically advanced race. It soon became apparent that gaining control of these guardians meant gaining control of Spark, and its riches untold. The conflict began.

Using heavily armed and remotely-controlled tanks to fearsome effect, teams of specially trained mercenaries work together to gain control of each guardian on behalf of their power-hungry benefactors. Establishing strategically located control points, the mercenaries need to retrieve and capture the available control orbs. This often required attacks on rival bases, using teamwork and key tactics, and defending the hard-earned orbs was paramount. With such a prize to be won, the coffers of the competing civilizations seem to be limitless, providing an infinite amount of tanks - and weapons with which to destroy those of their competitors.

Only your resolve will dictate the length of your tour of duty.
